Major Injury & Casualty
We have a bumper section this month with lots of exciting content spanning a range of issues across our Major Injury and Casualty division and articles from many of our Areas of Core Excellence (‘ACE’) Groups.
In May, Perry Hill, a Partner in our London Casualty Team and head of the Local Authority ACE Group, was commissioned by ALARM to write an article on the issues surrounding violence against women and girls for their online newsletter, Stronger. Perry’s powerful article is republished with kind permission here.
Retu Joshi, one of our senior associates and a member of our Traumatic Brain Injury ACE group, examines the evolution of traumatic brain injury imaging technologies and considers the implications for effective treatment and patient outcome. Her article can be accessed through the hyperlink above.
There is a never a dull moment for our Casualty teams: Narrinder Taggar, Director in our Birmingham office, had an unusual case with a claimant who, despite initially suffering a significant injury, recovered surprisingly well – well enough to be caught trampolining on camera. You can read how the case played out here.
Many of you will have children heading off to university this month. Partner Jo Pizzala considers the risks Freshers’ Week presents to higher education establishments and what they can do to manage those risks, keep people safe and ensure student memories are made for all the right reasons. Her article can be found here.
Finally, Will Stobart of DWF and Gary Hoxworth at Verlingue Insurance Brokers review a recent judgment concerning the foreseeability of harm in psychiatric injury cases, concerning a claimant who witnessed an explosion at his place of work. Their article highlights some key issues with claims from primary and secondary victims and is found here.
