Government highlight need for high level business ownership of cyber security: The Secretary of State at the Department for Innovation, Science and Technology Liz Kendall and Security Minister Dan Jarvis have written an open letter to UK business leaders about the need to take action to protect their businesses against AI cyber threats recommending that they should follow the Governments cyber security code of practice, make use of the cyber essentials and follow the national cyber security advice and sign up for the NCSC early warning service. Advertising watchdog upholds complaints re lack of substantiation for price reduction claims: The Advertising Standards Authority has upheld two complaints about teleshopping company Shop TJC Ltd t/a Ideal World for failure to be able to substantiate the reference price for two watches in respect of which substantial price reduction claims were made. Business views requested on regulatory barriers in the science and technology sectors: The Department for Business and Trade has extended an ‘open door’ initiative for businesses in the science and technology sector to highlight regulatory barriers that they are facing. 20p per container proposed for deposit return scheme charge: The Association of Convenience Stores has welcomed a proposal by deposit return scheme administrator for England, Scotland and Northern Ireland ‘Exchange for Change’ to set a 20p charge in respect of all containers to be covered by the scheme due to begin operating in 2027. EU Commission report on fish farming highlights welfare gaps and opportunities: The report found that while good practices, research and new technologies are emerging, their use remains inconsistent. Key challenges include the lack of clear welfare indicators, limited expertise, and difficulties in inspecting remote farms. View >
